A delegation from Gordon Academic College recently traveled to Lusaka, Zambia, to conduct a successful training mission aimed at developing a national teacher-training strategy in collaboration with UNICEF and the Zambian Ministry of Education.

Led by educational anthropologist Prof. Rhonda Sofer and qualitative research expert Dr. Sveta Roberman, the team worked closely with the University of Zambia, directed by Prof. Innocent Mulenga, to train 10 data collectors, including PhD researchers, Master's graduates, and students. Over the course of three days, they provided in-depth instruction on effective interviewing techniques for engaging key educational stakeholders and facilitating focus groups with both experienced and novice teachers.

The mission also featured productive discussions with the Teacher's Council of Zambia on critical aspects of teacher registration, certification, and professional development. Additionally, the delegation collaborated with Chalimbana University’s School of Education to explore the challenges and opportunities in teacher training. This initiative highlights Gordon Academic College’s commitment to enhancing educational practices on a global scale.
